What Is a Walk-in Clinic?
Delivery of ambulatory medical care outside of a hospital emergency department, on an unscheduled, convenient walk-in basis. Walk-in medical centers are primarily used to treat patients who have an injury or illness that requires time-sensitive care but is not serious enough to warrant a visit to an emergency room. Chiefland Health Center provides immediate care for acute, non-life threatening illnesses and injury. Our team of providers are trained and experienced in providing care for the simplest to the more complex medical conditions. We coordinate our care between primary care physicians, outpatient imaging centers, hospital emergency departments and physician specialists creating a network of care options for you that puts you in the right hands at the right time.
If you are looking for a faster and more affordable option for basic medical care, a walk-in clinic provides just that — convenience and affordability. Nurse practitioners and physician assistants often staff walk-in clinics. Generally, walk-in clinics treat nonemergency illnesses and injuries, in addition to some provide lab tests, immunizations and health screenings. Appointments are not needed at walk-in clinics, adding to the convenience factor for patients rather than seeing a family physician or waiting in the ER.

Our centers are open 365 days a year and offer very short wait times. The visits at our clinics typically take less than an hour to complete and a visit is less than half the cost of a trip to an emergency room. An emergency room’s high cost to treat life-threatening injuries is evident in the bill one receives after obtaining treatment. Walk-in clinic design facilitates low cost and efficient treatment by having all the facilities typically found in an emergency room at a much lower cost. The extended hours, seven-day-a-week allow patients to receive the appropriate care they need in a quick, attentive manner.
