Women's Health Q & A

What is women’s health?

Women’s health includes your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Chiefland Health Center offers a wide array of women’s health services to keep you healthy and detect medical problems before they become serious.

Which women’s health services are available?

Chiefland Health Center offers the following women’s health services:

  • Pelvic exams
  • Pap smears
  • Breast and cervical cancer screenings
  • Chronic disease screening and management
  • Sexually transmitted disease (STD) testing
  • Hormone replacement therapy
  • Flu shots and other vaccines
  • Osteoporosis screenings
  • Treatment for sexual dysfunction
  • Yearly physicals
  • Menopause symptom treatments

They also offer in-house bloodwork for added patient convenience. The team takes all the time you need during appointments, so you don’t feel rushed.

What should I expect during a women’s health exam?

During a women’s health exam, or well-woman exam, your provider at Chiefland Health Center weighs you and checks your blood pressure and other vital signs. They review your medical history and ask questions about symptoms you may have.

Your provider completes a pelvic exam and a Pap smear when necessary. During a Pap smear, they insert a speculum into your vagina and takes a sample of cervical cells so a lab can screen them for signs of cervical cancer. They also complete a breast exam or recommend a mammogram for breast cancer screening.

Based on your health, symptoms, and disease risk factors, they might also recommend blood or imaging tests to detect or rule out women’s health issues or a chronic disease. The Chiefland Health Center team lets you know if you require treatment for a gynecological condition, urinary problems, hormone imbalance, menopause symptoms, or other issues.

They also offer weight-management counseling, birth control, vaccinations, family planning counseling, and treatments for mental health conditions like depression and anxiety.

How often should I schedule an appointment?

Every woman is different, but generally speaking, you should schedule a women’s health exam every year. If you have a gynecological condition or chronic disease, you might require more frequent visits to maintain optimal health.

Don’t neglect your health and put yourself at risk of a women’s health problem. Schedule a women’s health appointment at Chiefland Health Center over the phone or online today.
